As anyone who’s foolish enough to get me onto the topic will discover, I’m rather fond of the V/Guy Fawkes imagery . I therefore have been known to be a little fussy about how it’s used. As it is these days a powerful image against the Government and for civil liberties in general I get quite annoyed seeing it used in contexts which reduce it’s potency, of such symbolism.
So I wasn’t that impressed when I came across this co-option of the V mask in support of the Lib Dems, I can only conclude that the person who made the log either has neither seen the film nor read the books or singularly failed to understand them. The wooshing sound they heard being the point sailing way above their heads. Mind best co-opt it fast in case people start thinking they can actually make a difference.
