Censor the internet for the cheeeldren!

Internet filtering once more being pushed by the powers that be according to the Inquirer. Not going for out right censorship this time though, nope this time it’s for the children (as allegedly parents have been crying out to have the state block naughty things for their precious off spring as they can’t be arsed). So when you sign up to an ISP they’ll have to quiz you on who’s in your house and then encourage you to accept a suitable level of censorship. Of course the cynical amongst us might suggest this would then be pushed out to “nudge” the rest of us, after all once the government could censor everyone’s internet (well most peoples, there’ll always be work arounds) does anyone think they’ll be able to resist using it for other purposes for our health or to fight terrorism or climate change denial or what ever the current issue is? Fortunately yet again the ISPs aren’t so keen and are suggesting the government should maybe do this themselves and take the flak for it. Odd how like minimum pricing, plain packaging and more EU they keep suggesting some ideas over and over again until we stop saying no, but when we ask for a referendum on the EU or more freedom suddenly it’s already been settled.
