The stupidity it burns

Having spent the day in a management training course, which invovled going to the office and thus trains and thus news papers I got exposed to above normal levels of stupid. So I thought I’d do the only “decent” thing and share the pain, so here is the Wednesday stupidity round up. ( I won’t mention Gordon Brown saying “told you so” and that te world needed to bail out the Euro).

Starting with the Metro and following up from yesterday it seems that the Government has announced reforms to the drive for renewable energy (wind farm subsidies for rich land owners) tat will cause our bills to go up by an estimated 160 quid a year, more if they don’t get round to passing an energy bill and getting private investors – that’ll help stimulate the economy all right.

The Prisoner vote thing has come back around again, with the ECHR once more saying banning all prisoners from voting is naughty and our Government (which is stuffed full of lawyers) saying well we’re going to do it anyway rather than just introducing some reasonable cut off point so that there isn’t an “automatic blanket” ban (which would be in keeping with a our radical heritage). Almost as if they’re just picking a fight for the headlines isn’t it. Of course it may be we could just say no without it leading to a fight, but the posturing is we’ll fight and waster even more money.

Another one which keeps coming back round on the guitar is the idea of a Thames estuary airport, now don’t get me wrong I think from so many ways this could be ever so cool, there’s just the slight problem of the wreck of the SS Richard Montgomery. Which doesn’t get many mentions in discussions about this plan.

And that’s quite enough stupid for one day, though there’s a lot more out there.
