Starting as they mean to go on?

This is being widely reported elsewhere (Dizzy> and Old Holborn) but good news is worth repeating. It appears as though steps are already being taken to scrap ID cards. The Identity and passport Service website is advising people to not get ID cards at them moment: “Both Parties that now form the new Government stated in their manifestos that they will cancel Identity Cards and the National Identity Register.
