Inequality gets royal consent

Today the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill got royal assent and passed into law. If you want to read lots of happy articles singing this as a great triumph, I suggest you ask a search engine or elsewhere – I’m going to piss in everyones cornflakes. Though before I do that I would like to wish well to all the same sex couples for whom this is actually important. It’s still not equality

Catching up on the news that’s happened whilst I’ve been traveling I note that the marriage “equality” bill has got through the lords. I put equality in quotes as it still doesn’t provide equality as I muttered about earlier. Apparently the evil wrecking amendment would extend civil partnerships to heterosexual couples, yep in a bill for equality asking that it actually deliver equality should be rejected because it would delay things and cost too much, cost not being a concern that I’ve noticed for the bill as it stood. This is not equality

Now that Drinkaury is over – though of course the fight against the puritans go on, it seems I missed all sorts of other things.
