Thanks to a post over at SamizData my attention was brought to the upcoming Liberty League Freedom Forum in London. the line up of speakers and talks looks good and being close enough to not need accommodation at £25 quid it’d be daft not to. Government alcohol strategy consultation

For those of you that aren’t following Drinkaury there’s a whole bunch of new posts up going through the entire government alcohol strategy consultation response form page by page. There’s just 6 days left to respond so do take some time to fill in the form even if just the first two sections on minimum pricing and multibuys. Though if you’ve got the time respond to the parts about reducing red-tape on business as well, or even better reply to the whole lot. +20

We shouldn’t accept the puritans frame of reference

This post first appeared on Drinkuary I’ve changed the title, and am adding this slight introduction. By accepting the puritans idea that there are irresponsible drinkers who it’s ok to punish we’re handing them victory from the outset. They are already accusing the drinks industry of using the tactic of the tobacco industry – I fear that hey may be right, that the drinks industry hasn’t learnt anything from the Puritans attack on tobacco and will use the same tactics with the same results.
