Yesterday a man was deliberately pushed under a tube train at Kentish town station and thankfully a man has been arrested in relation to this. Yesterday our parliament had a rather long debate on if we should extend our bombing operations in Iraq into Syria to join the multinational effort to tackle Da’esh. There’s been an awful lot said about this both before and after the vote so I’m afraid I’m unlikely to add any massive insight, but for what it’s worth here’s my rambling take on matters. Today is apparently black Friday, and the articles and posts about how terrible it all is were already well underway yesterday. These articles seem to originate from the worst of the champagne socialists, just consider this article in the Guardian lauding “Civilised Friday”. Where booksellers try to tempt people in with “butlers serving prosecco and free hand massages” presumably in the hope that people might also buy a book or two.
